I am midwife Ellen
My name is Ellen Hartmann and I live just behind the dunes in The Hague. Together with my husband, son (2015) and daughter (2016), I have been living for many years now with great pleasure in the Bomenbuurt, a small village in the big city. In my spare time I like to be on or near the water, I like needlework, playing the piano and going out with my family.
The love for birth has always been there, but my passion for this only really flared up when I myself was pregnant with my oldest son. Both of my pregnancies have taught me even better how important it is that you as a woman are heard and seen during your pregnancy and delivery. That it is always your body and your child and that it is important that you have a say in (treatments). I soon noticed that regular obstetrics did not work satisfactorily for me and that I prefer to work in my own way with the pregnant woman central. From this arose "Midwife Ellen".
Every pregnant woman and baby has their own story. That makes every pregnancy and delivery a unique event. Pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period and parenthood are different for everyone. That's why midwifery is so beautiful to me as a midwife. I like to call myself a midwife because this term better reflects my vision, namely midwifery with in-depth care that is specifically aimed at the pregnant woman and her child. An enveloping and warm care. A concern that goes further than just the standard check-ups and guidance in regular obstetrics. The natural process of pregnancy and delivery are my starting point here.
I am a midwife who listens to your wishes and likes to think along and inform you about options. For me it is important that you can make conscious choices, regardless of which choice that is. It is not important to me where or how you want to give birth. Any choice is a good choice as long as you can make it from your own strength and are fully informed.
My belief is that the more we pay attention to your pregnancy and mindset together, this will have a positive impact on your pregnancy, delivery, maternity period and parenthood.
